The Finals of the Men’s NORCECA Olympic Qualifying game is hometown hero’s
Puerto Rico vs USA. Puerto Rico stormed into the finals with a win over Canada winning 3-0 (41-39, 25-21, 25-19).
“We have played a great match and our serves complicated the game for the Canadians,” said Carlos Cardona, the coach of Puerto Rico.
“We were very inconsistent even in the first set and on the other hand Puerto Rico played very stable,” said Glenn Hoag, the Canadian coach.

USA had a convincing win over hapless Cuba, but the American’s are not satisfied with their play, they know they still have a lot more to improve on, though beating Cuba 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-18).
“This was not the best of our matches and hopefully we have reserved our best for the last day,” said Captain Thomas Hoff. “Today we served good and controlled the ball better.”
“We played well for the first two sets but could not make the plays at the end which USA did,” said Roberlandy Simon, the Captain of Cuba. “In the third set, the Americans served, blocked and defended better than us.”

Puerto Rico defeated Canada in the Semi- Finals. 3-0 (41-39, 25-21, 25-19)
USA defeated Cuba in the Semi-Finals. 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-18)
Puerto Rico defeated Mexico Quater-Finals 3-1 (25-23, 30-28, 22-25, 19-25, 15-11)
Puerto Rico now play Canada in the Semi-Finals.
Cuba beat Dominican Republic Quater-Finals 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-23)
Mexico defeated Barbados 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-15)
Mexico play-off for 5th position
Dominican Republic defeat Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 28-26)
Dominican Republic vs Mexico play-off for 5th place.
