Kiwi Duo Lose Final to Brazil

The New Zealanders, nicknamed the twin towers on the tour, looking to overwhelm their smaller opponents with power and presence.
But Beach Volleyball in Brazil is part of the fabric of society and these girls have great skills and a streetwise edge to their game honed from hours of play under the Rio sun. Once again the finals were faced off between the twin towers & the sultry Brazilians.
The Anna Scarlett-led New Zealand combination battled bravely but couldnt prevent a Brazilian grand slam at the NZ Beach Volleyball Open in Auckland on Sunday.
The Brazilian duo of Camilla Dos Reis Saldanha and Lili Maestrini prevailed 21-19 21-16 in just under 40 enthralling minutes to make it five out of five on the New Zealand Beach Volleyball tour after earlier victories at Wellington, Matarangi, Ohope and Mt Manganui.
The Kiwis showed their undoubted skills in patches but the Brazilians were too clever and well-organised and showed great anticipation both on attack and defence.
